Assembling the Agri-Fab 45-0518 40" Tow Plug Aerator can take a bit of time, depending on how familiar you are with tools and following assembly instructions. From what we've gathered, most people spend about 1.5 to 3 hours setting it up. This includes time for unpacking, figuring out all the parts, and putting the whole thing together.
The good news is it comes with pretty detailed assembly instructions that most people find useful. A few folks have mentioned that having a buddy to help can make things go faster. You'll need some basic tools, like a wrench set, which aren't included, so make sure you have those ready to go.
A smart tip we've come across is to read through the entire manual before diving in. It seems that doing this can save you some hassle. Also, laying out all the parts before you start can help make sure you're not missing anything.
One tricky part might be adding weights to the tray since the aerator doesn't come with a specific way to secure them. You'll need to add weights like cinder blocks or bags of sand to really boost its effectiveness, especially in tough soil. Bringing some straps or bungee cords to secure the weights is a good idea according to several sources we found.
So, set aside a couple of hours for the setup, get your tools and maybe a second pair of hands, and you'll have it ready to go pretty smoothly. It should be well worth it once you see the improvement in your lawn's aeration.
